The club’s Intermediate synchro team Synergy competed in the Atlantic Regional Synchro Championships in Riverview New Brunswick.  As single entrants they automatically qualify for Canadian Nationals by taking part but had an excellent skate scoring 46.12 in their first skate, and 44.45 in the second.

Synergy are operating the canteen at Feildian Gardens on Saturdays, and selling tickets on a gold bangle to raise funds for their travel. Synergy thank Avalon Ford, Canadian Tire (Kelsey Drive) and the Avalon Region for their support.

Congratulations to club member Stephanie Fagan who passed her Junior competitive singles test at Skate Dartmouth

Congratulations to former club member Allie Hann-McCurdy and her partner Michael Coreno on their silver medal at the Four Continents Championships in Korea. Allie was a Canskater with the club before moving to BC.

Following successful track and field seasons sisters Nicole and Yvonne Chan have both been nominated for the Mount Pearl female athlete of the year award. both are long-time club members with successful skating careers.

Several club skaters and volunteers traveled to London, Ontario to take in Canadians. Club member Corey Sutherland  acted as a technical specialist at Junior Nationals at the same venue.

Ruth Noel is presented with the Sis Reid volunteer award

The club hosted a very successful Avalon Regionals competition, January 9 to 10 at the Jack Byrne arena, Torbay. Ruth Noel was presented with the Sis Reid award for volunteer efforts.

Club medalists included Ashley Morgan, Lauren Stringer, Philip McDermott, Dylan Short, Taylor Druken, Sophia Stylianides, Erin Maher and Ashley Stringer (gold), Gillian Bowering, Catherine Barrett, Kaitlin Harte, Maggie Walsh, Julia Howley (silver) and Olivia Drover-Martin, Hannah Budgell, Emma Murray and Erin McKinnon (bronze).
Others taking part included Samantha Scurrey, Holly Burford, Laura Couturier, Caroline Flynn, Meghan Murphy, Laura O’Keefe (Pre-Preliminary); Jenny Biles, Grace Clarke, Mikayla Downey, Catherine Power, Amber Boutcher, Lauren Woodruff, Kathleen Goulding, Megan Lawlor, Mackenzie Woodfine, Sarah Jane Downton, Julia O’Keefe, Laura Stevens (Preliminary); Julia Planke,  (Senior Bronze); Dylan Short, Kayla Kennedy, Julia Howley, Breauna Miller, Nicole Burt (Open). A very big thank you to Kim French, the organizing  committee and all the volunteers for a job well done!!
